Not many things make me as happy as to see the Yankees lose. Call me a southern redneck that cannot stand the Yankees and I will openly agree. Don’t get me wrong I certainly respect the talent that has run out in those pinstripes for years. However, it seems the arrogance overwhelms the game and it reveals the Yankees are the epitome of making the game a job instead of playing for the love of the game. I found quotes of the stunned reaction of players to their early departure. The fact that these players did not think they could lose is what removes the Yankees from the hearts of those that do not like them. But, then again, maybe they can change their name and no one will be the wiser as to their arrogance and their off field shenanigans. Listen to the arrogance and the blame game in the quotes.
Mark Teixeira: “None of us were ready to go home. I don’t think anyone in here thought we were going home today. We all had a lot of confidence we were going to get the job done.”
Nick Swisher: “You can always play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game, but the bottom line is we couldn’t get it done. We’re going to have to sit on that all offseason.”
Alex Rodriguez: “It’s devastating. This one’s going to hurt for a long time. At home, we should have won this. After winning the game the other night, we felt coming home, this was our game to win.”
